State statistics show Jasper County has 13 COVID-19 cases confirmed in past 48 hours, state records 274 new cases

Statistics released this afternoon by the Department of Health and Human Services indicates Jasper County has had 13 COVID-19 cases confirmed in the past 48 hours and 23 in the past five days.

The Jasper County Health Department, in an exception to its practice of only publishing updates on Friday, issued a statement Sunday saying that 10 cases had been confirmed since its regular report. The department has not issued any statements since then.










The latest state numbers show Jasper County with 53 cases, followed locally by Newton County with 44, McDonald County 42, the City of Joplin 26 and none for Barton County.

Eight deaths were recorded in the last 48 hours in the state, increasing the total to 848, with another 274 cases. Missouri has had 15,187 cases.

St. Louis County leads the state with 482 deaths, followed by the city of St. Louis with 133, St. Charles County 60, Kansas City 28, Jackson County 22, Franklin and Jefferson counties 18 apiece and Scott County 10.
