(From First District Congresswoman Cori Bush)Right now, we are facing a large-scale humanitarian catastrophe. We must put an end to this violence to save lives - both Israeli and Palestinian.
I strongly condemn the horrific Oct. 7th attack by Hamas militants on civilians, which claimed the lives of 1,400 Israelis.
Human rights violations do not justify more violations of human rights, and the catastrophic Israeli bombardment in Gaza has resulted in the death of over 8,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including over 3,000 children, and the displacement of over one million Gazans. Our actions must reflect the belief that all human life is precious. This is why we need an immediate ceasefire.
On October 16th, I introduced H. Res. 786, the Ceasefire Now Resolution, urging the Biden Administration to call for de-escalation and an immediate ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine, and to send humanitarian assistance to Gaza. The resolution is now cosponsored by 17 House Members. Click the image above to view my video remarks or read my remarks HERE. Watch the full press call introducing this resolution HERE.
The goal of a ceasefire is to save lives, not to evade accountability. We must hold everyone who is complicit in human rights violations accountable, and ensure the safe return of all hostages. That is why I am also a cosponsor of H. Res. 793, which condemns the Hamas attack and calls for the immediate release of all hostages. It's also why I am calling for the release of thousands of Palestinians who are currently being unjustly detained in Israel. However, we can only address the root causes of this conflict and push for accountability once we put an end to the ongoing and catastrophic violence.

Yeah, Israel should stop and let Hamas regroup so they can do it again. I'm sure Hamas wanted the kind of war where they could kill anyone and everyone they wanted with no consequences. Cori and the rest of the squad are clowns.
You're another right wing nut job 549, Hamas will never surrender and gladly embraces the Palestinian death numbers for as long as Isreal keeps bombing hospitals and refugee camps undiscriminatly. Every Israeli bomb that continues to kill children and the innocent, is one bomb closer to our entry to war. Just what Hamas and iran, and your pal putin and his bedfellow Xi want. Crawl back down and hide in your qanon septic tank 549 along with the rest of white nationalist rot.
Cori Bush - You are Out of Touch with the World and its History. If your Way of Life was threatened daily by Hamas and then they do such a dastardly and defiant thing as Killing and Raping Women and Children - - No Civil Individual could stand for that - - It is a shame that innocent individuals on the Palestine side are being dragged into this - but if you allow this Hamas Group to be part of your Culture - then you are guilty of these atrocities too and will suffer a similar outcome.
Just like during WWII - the Germans persecuted the Jews and Other Groups - Not all the German People were bad, but because they allowed the Powers to be to try and Eradicate the Jewish People and Other Groups - they paid the Ultimate Price - for allowing the Torture and Killing of Innocent Individuals - - The Palestine People are Paying the Ultimate Sacrice for allowing Hamas to Life and Operate amongst them.
Oh I see, Hamas will never surrender, so Israel should. I'm no huge fan of Israel, but they do have a right to ensure that their people aren't being attacked by murderous thugs.
The US is funding both sides of this stupid war anyways, the sooner you name calling, tribalist MSNBC viewers wake up and realize that we are all being played by our politicians and defense contractors, the sooner we can be rid of these stupid wars.
As an aside, a congresswoman from St. Louis shouldn't have a foreign policy, her obligation is to her district and this country. Same goes for all of them. They are all, to a person, too dumb for geopolitics. These wars are all money laundering schemes for politicians. Wake up before it's too late.
1049 doesn't get it. That way of thinking might apply to all the overweight balding and toothless beer drinking 8th grade graduates down at the bowling alley. Not so simple 1049. Suggest you get some help outside of your white nationalist compadres and get a grip on reality.
1117 and 1049 accurately resonate the hateful bigoted vitriol of today's republican cult. If it weren't already enough just listening to these two rednecks, take a listen to the orange witch (mtg) from Georgia and her juvenile take on the the events of 10/6. The following applies to a vast majority of repubs: "Fat, dumb, and stupid is no way to live life"...Dean Wormer, Animal House, circa 1977.
You don't have an argument that stands up to logic, so you resort to name calling. Pathetic and predictable.
And you, 801, haven't an idea what's happening outside of your puny self absorbed worldview. Probably only extends to the edge of your backyard.
