Joplin man pleads guilty to federal meth possession charge

 Robert Marion Nevels, 35, Joplin, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine during a hearing this morning in U. S. District Court in Springfield.

A second charge against Nevels, illegal possession of a firearm, will be dismissed when he is sentenced, according to online court records.

A presentence investigation was ordered. No time has been scheduled for sentencing.

According to the charging information, a Carthage Police Department officer stopped Robert Marion Nevels, 35, May 16 and seized 210.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and a handgun.
