Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce mourns passing of former Chamber president

(From the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce)

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Gene Schwartz’s passing. Gene was not just a leader in our community; he was a champion for Neosho, dedicating his life to making a lasting impact that will be felt for generations to come.

Gene moved to Neosho in 1966 to work for Talbot Industries, where he eventually became President/Chairman from 1977 to 1989. His leadership was instrumental in shaping the company and the community.

In 1995, he ventured into independent consulting and real estate development before founding K & S Wire Products, where he served as Chairman of the Board. K & S Wire, an Employee-owned company, now employs around 80 individuals.

Throughout his 50 plus years in Neosho, Gene was actively involved in various boards and organizations, contributing to projects and initiatives that impacted transportation, medical care, education, economic development, and commerce. His dedication and hard work have left an indelible mark on our community's growth and prosperity. His awards were many but we were honored to present him in 2015 with the Most Improved Business Location award and in 2022 with the Gib Garrow Lifetime Achievement Award.

Gene was a proud father to Sheila Parsons, the late Gene Schwartz, Jr., and Grant Schwartz. Much like Gib, he played a pivotal role in moving the needle forward for Neosho, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, and dedication.

As we mourn Gene's passing, let us also celebrate the incredible life he lived and the positive impact he had on all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Gene Schwartz, Your legacy will forever inspire us.
