Former Seventh District Congressman Billy Long's tenure as Internal Revenue Service commissioner only lasted about six weeks.
Numerous news outlets are reporting today that President Donald Trump is removing Long and replacing him on an interim basis with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent who will serve as acting commissioner.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Long said he is appointed ambassador to Iceland.
“I am thrilled to answer [Trump’s] call to service and deeply committed to advancing his bold agenda.” Exciting times ahead!”

Back the Vegas Buffet for Billy. Go hard homey, you earned it!
Is Iceland known for its casinos?
He'll learn 'em to say sum beech quicker than 2 pounds cherrys will run through you!
I find this absolutely hilarious! For years, he's been wasting taxpayers' dollars. I hope he is sent to Iceland to spend the majority of his time. And 4:22, that's exactly what I was thinking!
Auctioneer and failed fake financial adviser-turned-statesman, Ambassador Boss Hogg
Truly a repugnant, obese, fraud huckster.
When it gets too crooked for Billy to do you know it's really really bad!
