Accumulating snow possible Sunday, Sunday night

(From the National Weather Service)

ACCUMULATING SNOW POSSIBLE SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT...

.AN ARCTIC AIR MASS WILL CONTINUE TO DIVE INTO THE REGION TONIGHT
WITH LOWS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS TO TEENS AND WIND CHILL VALUES
DIPPING INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE AND BELOW ZERO. UPPER LEVEL
ENERGY WILL DIVE SOUTHEAST INTO THE AREA ON SUNDAY AND SUNDAY
NIGHT AND WILL CAUSE SNOW TO DEVELOP OVER THE AREA.

THE MOST FAVORABLE LOCATION FOR HEAVIER SNOW APPEARS TO BE OVER
SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI WITH THIS SYSTEM WHERE THREE TO FIVE INCHES
OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE. FURTHER NORTHWEST...WE ARE GOING WITH
ONE TO THREE INCHES OF SNOW.

THERE WILL BE A VERY DRY AIR MASS TO OVERCOME DURING THE DAY ON
SUNDAY WHICH COULD SLOW THE ONSET OF SNOWFALL AND ALSO LESSEN
AMOUNTS A BIT. THERE CONTINUES TO BE A SIGNAL FOR SEVERAL SNOW
BANDS TO DEVELOP. ANYTHING THAT WOULD DEVELOP IN THESE BANDS WOULD
HAVE HIGH SNOW RATES AND SNOW AMOUNTS COULD BE HIGHER THERE. IN
ADDITION...THE HIGHER LIQUID TO SNOW RATIOS GIVEN THE COLD
TEMPERATURES WILL ALLOW THE SNOW THAT OCCURS TO ACCUMULATE QUICKLY.

MODELS CONTINUE TO SHOW SOME DISAGREEMENT WITH RESPECT TO
PLACEMENT AND TIMING OF THE SNOWFALL WHICH COULD ALSO HAVE
IMPLICATIONS ON THE SNOWFALL FORECAST...SO FORECAST SNOW AMOUNTS
FOR ANY SPECIFIC AREA COULD POSSIBLY CHANGE OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS
OR SO.
