Using a strong base of people who share his wealth and/or his Mormon religion, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has already been projected the winner of the Republican caucuses in Nevada.
Currently, with four percent of the vote counted, Romney has 50 percent of the vote, more than three times as much as his nearest challenger. It is the fight for second that is proving to be the most interesting facet of the caucuses.
Sen. John McCain is running second with 14 percent, but only in the last few moments has McCain pulled past Rep. Ron Paul, who has 12 percent. Mike Huckabee, who was running fifth earlier has moved to fourth, within striking distance of second with 10 percent, while Fred Thompson, who was fourth, has dropped to fifth at eight percent.
Live blogging will continue throughout the afternoon and evening as results of the Democratic caucuses in Nevada and the Republican primary in South Carolina will be covered.
