R-8 Board candidate interviews to be televised, held in open session

The five candidates for the vacant Joplin R-8 Board of Education seat will be interviewed in an open session beginning 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Administration Building at 32nd and Duquesne.

The sessions, which will be held with one candidate at a time, will also reportedly be televised on Jet 14.

The opening occurred when Dawn Sticklen, who had been on the board since 2012, resigned after transferring her daughter to Webb City High School.

The five candidates who have applied for the position are former Joplin Police Chief Lane Roberts, Jeff Koch and Shawn McGrew, who ran unsuccessfully for the board in April, Jennifer Martucci and Chris Tucker.

The candidate who is selected by the board will serve until next April, when that position, as well as the seats currently held by Board President Anne Sharp and Jim Kimbrough will be up for grabs.

Anne has lost touch. She must go. Not sure about Jim.

I like this transparency.

Anne has been a disappointment. Speaks to fellow board members rudely and cannot even acknowledge community members/ parents when they approach her with concerns.

Jim is a good man. Tries. But needs to grow some cajones to stand up to the bullies and despots on the board.

Randy Steele- ugh. Have no frickin idea why or how you got re-elected. What a complete fool
