COVID-19 cases are spiking in Newton County with 52 cases reported in the past seven days.
In a news release issued this afternoon, the Newton County Health Department reported 77 coronavirus cases with 53 currently under isolation and 10 hospitalized.
An additional 174 people are under quarantine according to the report.
On June 5, Newton County had reported 25 COVID-19 cases. An additional 15 had been confirmed by Tuesday and another 37 in the past three days.
The county's June 9 update showed 69 people under quarantine. Another 105 have been added in four days.
Gov. Mike Parson announced Thursday that the state will be totally reopened Monday.
