A bill authorizing a tax abatement for a company planning to operate a manufacturing plant and bringing 158 jobs will be taken up by Carthage City Council when it meets 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Belleville Shoe Manufacturing, Belleville, Illinois, plans to expand into Missouri for the first time, will renovate an existing building and invest $2.2 million into the facility.
If the council approves the measure as expected, the company would receive an annual tax abatement of $3,500 for the next 10 years.
The jobs would pay an average of $32,668 annually, with all full-time employees receiving health insurance.
