Governor Hutchinson released the following statement on today’s COVID-19 numbers:

“Yesterday was a new record in antigen testing in Arkansas, and new cases are running flat week over week. Regretfully, we also saw another record in new deaths, with 58 deaths reported yesterday. We are distributing the vaccine across the state for our health care workers, and we continue to see high levels of community spread."

As a life long resident of Neosho, I am sickened by the behavior from Tuesday night. Our town is not the town that I grew up in. I am certain that if you polled the community most would be for protecting others. That being said the group of bullies that attended the meeting are taking over this town. They are lead by a transplant to Neosho, Ben Baker. I along with hundreds of others lost a wonderful man, coach, friend, and valued member of our community. That seemed lost on the people who are opposed these ordinances. I know most of the people in this community are intelligent enough to know that the members of the council were in a position that they would never want to be in. We should thank them for trying to protect our residents and respect the tough decision they had to make. I implore everyone in Neosho from this point forward to respect each other and stop the hate. If you don't wear masks, don't bother the residents that do. If you wear masks don't shame those who don't. Keep your distance and stay safe. Thank you to those medical professionals, that are also members of our community for trying, and my apologies for your treatment.
