Sonic Drive-In, 310 E. 32nd Street, failed its Joplin Health Department inspection today, according to information posted on the department website. Three other Sonic Drive-Ins passed their inspections.
The 32nd Street Sonic's inspection resulted in one priority violation, 15 core violations and an administrative violation.
An employee drink was observed above the front handwashing sink in the kitchen, resulting int the priority violation.
Core violations were assessed for the following:
-Ice accumulation on the inside of the reach-in freezer
-Food debris accumulations were observed on the inside of the small ice cream dispenser
-Food debris accumulations were observed on the inside of the large ice cream dispenser
-The contact surface of the grill had grease accumulations.
-Liquid waste was heavily accumulating on the inside of the light bulb shield in the walk-in cooler.
-Trash debris was observed on the ground around the outside dumpsters.
-The cover plate was not fixed securely to the wall below the drive-through window.
-Debris accumulation was observed in hard to reach areas on the floor below the chemical storage shelves next to the three-compartment sink.
-Floor grout was heavily worn and holding stagnant water in multiple locations throughout the kitchen.
-The protective wall trim was damaged and missing in multiple locations throughout the kitchen.
-Water damage was observed on the ceiling vent cover above the reach-in cooler. A water-damaged ceiling vent cover was leaking water onto the floor.
-Heavy grease accumulations were seen on the vent filters above the frying station.
-A large quantity of ice was on the floor of the ice maker.
-Floor tiles were damaged and missing and holding stagnant water in multiple locations throughout the kitchen.
The administrative violation was for not posting the health permit in a conspicuous location.

Ate a hamburger there recently and was so sick!
