Employee charged with stealing $35,000+ from Joplin therapy practice

The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney filed stealing and fraudulent use of a credit/debit device charges, both felonies against a Nevada woman who allegedly took more than $35,000 from her employer.

An arrest warrant was issued today for Brianna Nichole Maples (DOB 1990) with bond set at $35,000 surety or $5,000 cash.

From the probable cause statement:

Brianna Maples was employed by Applied Psychological Services at 1627 W 26th St. One of the owners began treatment for a serious physical illness and Maples offered to run payroll for the company.

While she was in charge of payroll, she paid herself extra money in the sum of $12,210.28.

Maples also had access to the company credit card and spent $23,045.58 on personal items including Air B&B's, airline tickets, and Amazon purchases.

In the probable cause statement, a bond was recommended because Maples "fled the state to her boyfriend's house on the east coast when the investigation began."

Is that last piece correct: “Bond RECOMMENDED due to her fleeing to the coast…boyfriend’s house?”

Exact Statement From - Probable Cause Statement - From Case Net:

They did misspell Investgation (Investigation) twice on the Statement. Since she had fled in the past to both the east and west coast, they are not recommending a recognizance bond, also known as personal recognizance (PR) or release on one's own recognizance (ROR), is a court's decision to release a defendant from custody without requiring them to pay bail, which is used sometimes in white collar thefts.

(X) I believe that the defendant will not appear in court in response to a criminal summons because:
Maples fled the state to her boyfriend's house on the east coast friend's house on the west coast when the investgation began. She does not live lowhen the investgation began. She does not live locally and will flee the area if she does not post bail.
