Video- Rex Sinquefield: We had a bad home life and did well in school; so can they

In this speech, posted on YouTube today, retired billionaire Rex Sinquefield describes his efforts to change public policy and says it has not been easy.

"I am shocked at how difficult changing public policy is."

That being said, Sinquefield who has poured millions into efforts to eliminate the state of Missouri's income tax, get rid of tenure for public schoolteachers, and establish educational vouchers in the state, makes it clear he does not intend to stop.

He says even five letters can influence a legislator. I would guess he thinks $5 million dollars will influence a legislator more.

Sinquefield also has no sympathy for anyone who talks about poverty being a reason for educational problems. The billionaire, who spent six years in an orphanage growing up, said, "We had a bad home life and we did very well in school and so can they."

He does not specify who "they" are.
