Motions to suppress statements and evidence in the involuntary manslaughter case against Joplin teen Cory Simmons will be heard during a 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, in McDonald County Circuit Court...Simmons' 18th birthday.
Simmons was charged in connection with the Feb. 11 traffic accident in which JHS student-athlete Christina Freeman, a passenger in the car Simmons was driving, was killed. Joplin police say Simmons was driving while intoxicated. The case is being heard in McDonald County on a change of venue.
According to court records, Simmons's trial is scheduled to begin July 18.
