Kennedy delivers powerful message
Senator Kennedy has just been introduced and looks hale and hearty for a man with a malignant brain tumor.
Kennedy is receiving a standing ovation as he approaches the lectern, obviously prepared to speak.
C-SPAN cameras just panned over Maria Kennedy Shriver, brushing a tear from her eyes.
"I pledge to you that I will be there next January on the floor of the United States Senate," Kennedy said. The cheers of "Teddy, Teddy, Teddy," began at that point.
Kennedy again said health care should be "a fundamental right and not a privilege.
We can meet these challenges with Barack Obama. Yes, we can, and finally, yes, we will."
This November, the torch will be passed again to a new generation of Americans. The work begins anew. The hopes rises again and the dream lives on."
Kennedy exited to the tune of the old Orleans song, "Still the One."
