Sen. Claire McCaskill is about to speak to the convention. She is being introduced by her children.
Austin Esposito, Ms. McCaskill's son, said, "We believe in our mom and we believe in Barack Obama."
After hugging her son and daughters, Sen. McCaskill began by praising Missouri. "We are not a red state, we are not a blue state, we are proud to be part of the United States."
Ms. McCaskill then told of the American stories of her family, and then of the Obama family. After that, she spelled out what she saw as the differences between Barack Obama and John McCain.
"For eight years, we have watched our government take care of the few, the powerful and the extremely wealthy. John McCain is running for four more years of the same policies we have had with George W. Bush.
"We cannot choose that path again. That is a risk the American people cannot afford to take."
Senator McCaskill said it is time to have someone as president who understands what the American dream is all about. "The American dream is not for a special few; it is for all of us."
