If local politicians thought taking a March vacation would distance themselves from last week’s votes on paycheck deception and anti-prevailing wage bills, their constituents are ready with a wake-up call. On Thursday, March 21 at 11 am, working people, retirees and students are meeting up at the Springfield Chamber of Commerce 202 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway in Springfield to make sure Senators Wasson and Dixon get the message.
Prior to the Missouri Senate voting Thursday on SB29, thousands of Missourians spoke out against paycheck deception and other anti-worker legislation. In phone calls, emails and letters and in-district meetings, Missouri voters urged their Senator to stand up against this radical legislative attack.
“I’m outraged that our local senators sided with CEOs and special interest groups like the Chamber of Commerce to pass paycheck deception, and then went home for a vacation, said Dick Wilson. “We’re more than halfway through the legislative session and politicians have done nothing to create jobs – just this latest attack on the Missourians at work today and every day. We’re rallying to let our elected officials know it is time for them to work for us, not the special interests.”
