Sarcoxie superintendent: The public can decide what to do with Lewis

The public will get the final say on whether John Lewis, the Sarcoxie Board of Education member who  is behind bars awaiting trial on federal child pornography charges, remains in his elected position.

In the March 13 edition of the Sarcoxie Record, Superintendent Kevin Goddard said the board took no action at a recent meeting regarding Lewis because he is up for re-election in a few weeks.

Goddard said the board "will not discuss (Lewis') fitness as a board member or presumed guilt or presumed innocence, but let the public elect the representation they desire in April."

Lewis' next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, the day the voters will render their verdict.
