The first book to offer Joplin tornado victims telling their own stories: 5:41: Stories from the Joplin Tornado, is now available as an e-book.
In addition to those stories, the book features original reporting and essays from Carthage Press Managing Editor John Hacker and me, the complete transcript of speeches given by President Obama, Gov. Jay Nixon, and Rev. Aaron Brown at the Joplin Tornado Memorial Service, the preliminary National Weather Service report, and obituaries of the 161 who died.
The book, originally published in August 2011, was the first comprehensive book released on the May 22, 2011, disaster, and has consistently been the best-selling Joplin Tornado book on Amazon.com since that time.
The e-book costs $5. The book is still available in paperback from Amazon and other internet sites and at area retail locations including Changing Hands Book Shop, Always Buying Books, Countryside Flowers, and Vintage Stock on the Mall in Joplin.
