"a record-breaking event brought us together". Classy tie-in to your stupid ribbon. I hope the Guinness entry states that C.J Huff, and not the Joplin school district, broke the record for longest ribbon cutting. This was one man's bad idea that is forced upon an entire community.

This is the current entry for the world record:
"The longest ribbon used in a ribbon-cutting ceremony measured 5.51 miles (8.86 km) and was used by the state of New Jersey (USA) to re-open the Jersey Shore in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, USA, on 24 May 2013.

The re-opening of the Jersey Shore occurred nearly seven months after the area was devastated by 2012's Hurricane Sandy. The ribbon began on the beach's coastline and concluded on the famous Seaside Heights boardwalk. New Jersey governor Chris Christie held the honors of cutting the ribbon."

Way to try to one-up a different disaster. The decision to have a phrase printed on it that has become synonymous with ineptitude fits this entire fiasco well.

Huff s forcing my child to be a part of his stupidity because of athletic status. Bullying the kids is not "for the kids"! Too bad it's not a six and a half mile rubber band they can let go of that will give CJ a ride to a third world country he can rebuild!

How many records does he need to set. Putting the taxpayers millions of dollars in debt is new record for Joplin schools. How about running off 300 teachers ,that's a impressive record. The record breaking will continue when they are unable to maintain all of CJ Huffs buildings that he has built . There is no way that the district will have the money to maintain just the high school. In the last six years they have been cutting there maintenance staff because lack of funding. I am guessing now that were millions of dollars in debt that they will be cutting more staff. Maybe the teachers can clean there own rooms. Our maybe they can have the custodians teach a class since they can't afford to hire any more teachers. When they come asking for more money. JUST SAY NO.

Stop using the tragedy for political purposes. Stop using the deaths of our friends and loved ones for politics. Just stop. Do you not see, Huff, that this is a morally compromised act in itself?

The quote that came to mind with respect to this "On May 22, 2011, a record-breaking event brought us together."

"You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?" Joseph N. Welch
