Kansas City superintendent takes the reins

At the Joplin R-8 Board of Education meeting Tuesday night, a representative of Ray and Associates, the Cedar Rapids, Iowa firm that was chosen to conduct a search for a superintendent, pointed to its recently completed search for the Kansas City School District as one of its most successful searches.

In the accompanying video from 41 Action News in Kansas City, the man who emerged from that search, Mark Bedell is profiled on his first day in charge.

On his first day, according to the report, Bedell said it was important for him to begin building trust. That will definitely be a must for whoever is selected to be the new Joplin superintendent.
