Blunt: I look forward to working with Betsy DeVos

Sen. Roy Blunt did not surprise anyone earlier this week with his announcement that he will support President Trump's embattled Secretary of Education nominee Betsy DeVos.

Of course, Blunt has more than 200,000 reasons to support the billionaire voucher proponent.

As noted in the January 21 Turner Report,  the DeVos family has contributed more than $37,000 to Blunt's 2010 and 2016 campaigns for Senate and Betsy DeVos' organization, All Children Matter, spent nearly $200,000 for negative advertising in the waning days of the 2004 race for Missouri governor that enabled Blunt's son, Matt

Blunt, to defeat Claire McCaskill 51 percent to 49 percent.

Roy Blunt released the following announcment:

“I believe Betsy DeVos understands that decisions about education need to be made much closer to where kids are. 

 I look forward to working with her to find ways to get those decisions back to local school boards, and moms and dads. 

 As Chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee for the Department of Education, I will be working hard to ensure that public education continues to be appreciated as the cornerstone of opportunity in America.”
