Billy Long: Why I voted no on impeachment

(From Seventh District Congressman Billy Long)

House Democrats have wanted to impeach President Trump from the moment he was sworn in.

In March of this year, Speaker Pelosi said that because an impeachment would be so divisive for this country, it must have bipartisan support and there must be overwhelming evidence, yet she has ignored her own standard.

This impeachment marks the first in modern history to be completely partisan, and House Democrats failed to offer the overwhelming evidence they promised.

I voted no on impeaching President Trump because I believe this has been a partisan attempt to overturn the outcome of the 2016 election absent any substantial evidence, and I believe it sets a dangerous precedent of which the House of Representatives should be deeply ashamed.

Someone asked on Twitter, "Who's the guy on the left in the pink tie who's about to explode?".

That was Missouri's chosen lacky with no moral fiber, just paying back the dues expected from Las Vegas and not paying forward for Missourians. Blunt, Hawley, Graves and others are just equal to or worse than out Billy Bob boy lacky.

What's the feed cost per pound of gain when it is a congressman in Las Vegas on full feed? (asking for a friend!)

That there sounds a lot like a lot of Four State republican voters though!

Not to mention more than a few elected officials!

Liberals, attack personal traits when you have no substance. Cowardly bunch of mental midgets.

Insults?

Mental midgets?

Speaking of mental midgets and insults...your anointed dear leader Donald Trump aka "Dolt 45", aka "Scoundrel Number One", aka the "Chief P*$$y Grabber":

He calls Joe Biden "Sleepy Joe", someone whose "intelligence" had been "long in doubt."

Remind me again why he cut off military aid to the Ukraine?

Remind me again why he was afraid to testify on the record to Mueller?

Military aid to the Ukraine was denied by Obama and given by Trump before any action by Ukraine was taken. Read. Understand. Comprehend.

Afraid to testify? Have you heard of purge traps, you sniveling dolt? It was not up to Trump to testify to prove anything. The burden was on the Dems to prove guilt and they couldn't. Learn how the U.S. justice system operates, you MENTAL MIDGET.

Don't let the facts get in your way!

Your comment serves as a self indictment of your understanding and comprehension of the governing documents and facts. Or perhaps your comment is just a ranting mish-mash regurgitation of right wing talking points from the fever swamps. In either case, that's not the way it works. Impeachment of a sitting US president has nothing at all to do with the US justice system. Impeachment is entirely a legislative act.

In the United States of America there are three branches of Government. They are the Executive, (President and about 5,000,000 workers) Legislative (Senate and House of Representatives) and Judicial (Supreme Court and lower Courts).

The President of the United States administers the Executive Branch of our government. The President enforces the laws that the Legislative Branch (Congress) makes.

The Legislative part of our government is called Congress. Congress makes our laws. Congress is divided into 2 parts. One part is called the Senate. The other part is called the House of Representatives.

The Judicial part of our federal government includes the Supreme Court and 9 Justices. They are special judges who interpret laws according to the Constitution. These justices only hear cases that pertain to issues related to the Constitution.

The judical system is reserved for all the president's criminal associates. A number of whom have already been convicted. A few of whom have become cooperating witnesses.

The judicial system is also involved to the extent that when the president and his lackeys try to hide the evidence of their acts, lawsuits may be filed concerning their attempts to not comply with laws like FOIA. Thus the recent emails released pursuant to such a FOIA lawsuit which document the circumstances of the secretive OMB hold on Ukrainian military aid. As it turns out some of the emails which were the subject of the FOIA lawsuit document the likely illegal actions taken to withhold the military aid less than two hours after the president's "perfect" call.

No kidding, 7:59? Facts be damned, right? Evidence? Who cares? Innocent until proven guilty? Again, who cares? Political hits that technically fall within the law are still within the law. Spin however you feel like spinning but the Democrats little smashing of the pillars of what this country was built on is a joke. You can cry about right wing this or right wing that, but common sense wins this argument. Black is black and white is still white. Innocent is still innocent and political hacks are still political hacks.

Explain the crimes.

Look you trumper apologists- the crimes for which a president of the United States may be impeached need not appear anywhere in Title 18 of the US Code.

Likewise, impeachment is not a criminal trial covered by Title 18 of the US Code.

Turn off Fox News and spend your money to buy some clues instead of buying your friends and family moar Trump 2026 hats and such.

I suspect that you will find The Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974 along with the newly released emails.

Oh, so there are no set rules for impeachment? Gotcha.
By the way, I watch CNN and just finished with a report one poll that they took which reports that 60% of those polled are still against impeachment.
Admit it, Lefty, your broken party is grasping at straws because they lost an election and they can't figure out why. They have been throwing crap at walls for three years trying to see if anything sticks. When. It doesnt they change the narrative and you lemmings follow along.
There is no one blinders than he who refuses to see. Look at the facts. Look at the history of the way the Democrats have reacted since they lost the election. It is nothing short of insane.
