Detention motion: Neosho woman connected with Aryan Brotherhood for meth trafficking

A Neosho woman's connections with the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang in Oklahoma was cited as a reason she should be held without bond while awaiting trial on meth trafficking charges in a detention hearing motion filed today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

A grand jury indicted Cherie Copeland, 42, earlier this month. Copeland pleaded not guilty today and is being held in the Greene County Jail until Judge Beth Phillips rules on the government motion.

In the detention motion hearing, the government gave the following reasons why Copeland should be held without bond.








On January 31, 2018, the defendant possessed approximately 216.36 grams of methamphetamine and a 9mm firearm, which the defendant admitted belonged to her. 

On June 25, 2019, the defendant possessed approximately 270 grams of methamphetamine. 

On October 23, 2019, the defendant possessed approximately 140 grams of methamphetamine. 

During their investigation, officers learned that the defendant was in frequent contact with members of the Aryan Brotherhood (AB) Prison Gang within the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Officers further learned that these inmates were the defendant’s connection for the distribution of methamphetamine.

No date has been set for the detention hearing.
