When the vote for mayor occurs and vice mayor please do not use the old names on the lighted vote count board, use the new names. On the last election it confused everybody.
When you vote be sure you understand their position on DEI/IED. Will they push it again?
Plead to the city clerk........

So no Frank Thompson on the docket?

Why do you hate the idea of inclusiveness?

IED:
Inclusion: when you include by identity groups or race you exclude others. If you rank your applicants by race or sex it is illegal. If done by race it is unconstitutional. See the latest Supreme Court case vs Harvard. Thus, under DIE/DEI, inclusion is exclusion.
Equity: this means equal outcomes, not equal access. Having the City guarantee outcomes for identity groups and races, or sexes, is not advisable. Again, subject to lawsuits.
Equity under DIE/IED leads to unequal treatment.
Diversity: when you select for diversity of races, etc., it is illegal. The Supreme Court case said using diversity to discriminate on the basis of race is unlawful. Nobody in Joplin wants that. I do not want that.

Well, I think it best if we debate without ad hominum attacks.
Works better for all. Let's go, shall we?

DIE/DEI is the opposite of merit based hiring and if you read from sources around the US there is a groundswell of opposition to it, and numerous successful lawsuits.
It is not racist to oppose race based hiring. It is of course the opposite, and grounded in the law.
It is not misogynistic or misandry to oppose discrimination on the basis of sex.
That is where many around the US are analyzing this issue from, and I think the logic is persuasive. I oppose mandatory DIE/CRT/DEI employee training for the City of Joplin and the School District and this is where it would be heading if it would be passed, along with hiring of a 'DEI Coordinator' to enforce it, at about 80K$ per year. Recall the DIE/DEI proposal came up from one of the sitting councilmembers and after many public comments it was voted down. I am looking forward, to the future, and hoping to prevent the angst it brought about from happening again. We do not need it.
I would note that we have had a Black female mayor for many years, may have another Black mayor on Monday, and a Black Police Chief.
