Joplin woman charged with assault in connection with shooting at 18th and Main

A misdemeanor assault charge was filed in Jasper County Circuit Court today against Robin Jalisa Mason (DOB 1990), Joplin, who allegedly punched man Monday just before her companion shot the man.

The victim was in serious condition and on a ventilator at the time the probable cause statement was written. The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed assault and armed criminal action charges against Trent Lamont Cobb (DOB 1990) Monday. Cobb remains at large.

The allegations against Mason were detailed in the probable cause statement:

Mason arrived at the location and walked over to V1 who was near the front of the location. Mason hit V1 in the head with a closed fist and an argument ensued. V1 was then shot by a black male subject who was standing behind Mason near the front of a white SUV parked near the front of the business.

Mason and the black male then fled the scene west bound on foot. I was able to review video surveillance of the incident and was able to positively identify Mason as the offender who assaulted V1 after viewing her DOR photograph. V1 was transported by METS for a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Mason refused to speak with detectives after being transported to the Joplin City Jail.

The female should receive a minimum of 10 years. If not for her an attempt wouldn't have been made on his life.
I can't stand that the court system is lenient just because it's a female. They Are The cause of many a man's death.
Men should get smart and quit messing around with such trash.

The shooter should receive 20 year minimum for attempted murder.
