Joplin woman accused of viciously beating, crippling cat with garden tool

Misdemeanor animal abuse and trespassing charges were filed today against a Joplin woman who allegedly repeatedly struck and crippled a cat with a garden tool.

Kendra Michelle Brace (DOB 1963) posted a $500 cash bond. Her arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 5 before Judge Joseph Hensley in Jasper County Circuit Court.

A witness saw Brace beating something with the garden tool, then going into her house and coming out with a black cat with white paws, according to the probable cause statement.

The witness thought the cat was dead and saw Brace putting it inside the property of its owner.

From the probable cause statement:

The cat appeared to be unable to move its rear legs at all and was able to slight move its front legs.

Kendra Michelle Brace, what a Crazy Bastard Karen, I can only hope that she is charged with a Class E Felony and goes to jail. Domestic animals do get out of their fenced yards and some roam over to neighbor's yards, but no animal deserves to be beaten to death. Did she call her neighbor or animal control, no she just beat the poor animal to death. I wish her punishment was equal to what she did to this defenseless animal....

I hope that some local citizens and animal groups show up at her court hearings to chastise this type of behavior and show the Judge, Prosecutor, and Defense Attorney that her actions are completely unwarranted and is pure abusive.

578.012. Animal abuse — penalties. — 1. A person commits the offense of animal abuse if he or she:

  (1) Intentionally or purposely kills an animal in any manner not allowed by or expressly exempted from the provisions of sections 578.005 to 578.023 and 273.030;

  (2) Purposely or intentionally causes injury or suffering to an animal; or

  (3) Having ownership or custody of an animal knowingly fails to provide adequate care which results in substantial harm to the animal.

  2. Animal abuse is a class A misdemeanor, unless the defendant has previously been found guilty of animal abuse or the suffering involved in subdivision (2) of subsection 1 of this section is the result of torture or mutilation consciously inflicted while the animal was alive, in which case it is a class E felony.

It is a class A misdemeanor if the authorized imprisonment exceeds six months in jail;

It is a class E felony if the maximum term of imprisonment is four years or less;

WOW if we only cared about unborn babies like we do a stray cat! This speaks volumes about our country today.
Shameful!!!

@6:57 Hey look at you, bringing up subjects that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

It's almost as if humans are complex beings that can care about multiple issues at the same time, without shoehorning their religious agenda on others at every opportunity.

I see that abortion is a big thing for you, so obviously you don't have time to care about other people, other problems in the world. Crime rates, immigration, corruption, all do not exist to you because abortion is the only problem with the world.

A life is a life, religion has nothing to do with it. Thanks for profiling me.

"Unborn babies" are fetuses, just clumps of cells, not yet life. A cat however, is fully grown and lives outside the womb, an actual life.

Now if you have any evidence that people are killing actual babies, by all means provide it.

I've wondered the same thing.

Are we not all just clumps of cells?
