Neosho man charged after allegedly beating girlfriend over the head with a shovel


A Neosho man was arraigned today in Newton County Circuit Court on a second-degree domestic assault after allegedly hitting his girlfriend in the back of the head multiple times with a shovel.

William Henry Zrubek (DOB 1968) is being held without bond. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 22.

The allegation against Zrubek is detailed in the probable cause statement.







On July 10, 2025, William committed the offense of domestic assault in the second degree causing serious physical injury to his girlfriend Victim 1 by striking {her} in the back of the head several times with a shovel and in the back causing a laceration.

While V1 tried to protect herself from William, {he} placed {her} in a chokehold until {she} passed out in the driveway.

While speaking with V1, {she} appeared to fear for her life and was very frightened of the situation.

The case was investigated by the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
