Cost to Missouri of loss of Republican power examined in AP article

President Bush's continuing drop in polls has given Democrats hope that they might take over the Senate and maybe even the House in November.
An Associated Press article explores what that could mean to Missouri. The most obvious change would be the loss of power for the state's senior senator Kit Bond and Seventh District Congressman and Majority Whip Roy Blunt.
On the other hand, the article notes, a Democratic takeover of the House would put Fourth District Congressman Ike Skelton (pictured) in charge of the House Armed Services Committee, and if State Auditor Claire McCaskill knocks off incumbent Jim Talent and Democrats regain control of the Senate, the article notes, a grateful leadership is apt to give Missouri's junior senator some choice committee assignments.
Of course, the Democrats still have to win the elections before any of this can take place.
