Joplin's Asiah Epperson takes American Idol by storm

One of the biggest stories in the new season of American Idol, seen in the Joplin area on Fox 14, has been the heartbreaking saga of Joplin's Asiah Epperson. According to the dozens of blogs that cover the Nielsen-topping TV show, Miss Epperson was set for the Atlanta audition and was excited about telling her father about it, when she discovered he had been killed in a car accident:

Best Attitude: Pretty, smiley Asia’h Epperson, whose father died mere days before her audition in a freak car accident, managed to get out the majority of her song — Leann Rimes’s “How Do I Live” — before tearing up and gasping for air. Her voice could be a bit better, and she sang as if suffering from a strong headcold, but even Ironsides Cowell couldn’t resist a triumphant story like this one, and all three judges agreed to send her on to Hollywood. Paula, never to be outshone, cried voluminously after Asia’h exited, and wandered around the room.
