Joplin's Asiah Epperson makes American Idol top 24

With only four spots left, Asiah Epperson was called in to face American Idol judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul, and learned she will continue in the American Idol competition.
"You impressed us very much with your first audition," Ms. Abdul told the Joplin resident. "You blew us away. We're happy to say you are on board for an amazing ride."

Before the interview, Miss Epperson talked about her father, who died only a couple of days before her initial audition in Atlanta.

"My dad passed away a day before my audition. It has been really hard dealing with everything that is going on here. I know he's here, he's not here in the flesh, but I can see his smile. I'm good."

Paula said, "You impressed us very much with your first audition. You blew us away. We're happy to say you are on board for an amazing ride.

The decision to place Miss Epperson among the final 12 female singers, and the top 24 overall, was a unanimous one, the judges said.
