New Lamar superintendent says budget cut prospects was not reason for his resignation at Labette

Newly hired Lamar R-1 Superintendent Dennis Wilson told KOAM-TV in a report that just aired that looming budget cuts at Labette County USD were not the reason he resigned. Cuts that have already been made in the district and looming cuts have been caused by declining enrollment, the report indicated.
Wilson's new post at Lamar was not mentioned in the newscast.
Wilson has been at Labette County for 12 years.
The following description of Wilson's hiring was given in the Wednesday Lamar Democrat:
On February 8, the board voted unanimously to offer Dennis Wilson the position of superintendant for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school year. Wilson has verbally agreed to take the position, but had not received the contract at press time to sign.
