A bus crash in Texas has prompted two lawmakers to call on the U.S. Senate to immediately pass a motorcoach safety bill when Congress reconvenes in September.
Texas Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison and Ohio Democrat Sherrod (SHAR'-ud) Brown introduced the measure last year after five baseball players from Bluffton University in Ohio were killed in an Atlanta bus crash.
The legislation would require the Transportation Department to upgrade federal safety standards for motorcoaches, including requiring seat belts.
