Hartzler: 9-11 attacks did not stifle greatness of the American people

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) has issued the following statement on the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks:

“Today marks the 11th anniversary of that horrific day – September 11, 2001 – when America came under attack from terrorists intent on destroying this country. In the days following those devastating attacks, Americans were unified, drawing strength from prayer and from each other. We were determined to not let freedom be snuffed out. As a result of the attacks, many answered the call to defend our country. While these acts of terrorism tested our strength as a nation, they could not stifle the greatness of the American people or our hopes for a bright tomorrow.

Patriot Day provides us with the chance to remember the victims of those terrible events and to honor the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians, and others who set aside their own safety concerns and bravely entered the burning World Trade Center towers. We also remember the courageous passengers of Flight 93 who crashed a hijacked jetliner into a field in Pennsylvania to save their fellow Americans. In so doing, these patriots selflessly gave their own lives in services to others. There is no greater love than that.

And so, on this somber anniversary, Americans offer thanks to those who gave their all that day, and pray for the families they left behind. We also remember the men and women in uniform who continue to protect our country today from those who would do us harm, and thank them for the great work they are doing. The war against terrorism is far from over. We ask God that His grace will be upon us and He will continue to protect this land.”
