Empire District Electric Company CEO Bradley Beecher did not receive a bonus, but his pay package increased by nearly a quarter of a million in 2012, according to a definitive proxy statement filed earlier this month with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Beecher's base pay was $323,985, up from $292,798 in 2011, but the total pay package was $929,198, according to the filing.
In addition to his base pay, Beecher received $123,114 in stock awards, $220,759 in non-equity incentive plan compensation, $252,190 listed as "change in pension value," and $9,210 listed as "all other compensation."
Beecher's total compensation was $683,706 in 2011.
The filing also indicates that vice president and chief operating officer Kelly Walters received the second-highest pay package, $576,851, including a $2,000 bonus, the only one issued to any of Empire District Electric's top officers.
"Ms. Walter's 2012 award is related to efforts put forth during the implementation of our enterprise application software upgrade. 2011 awards represent discretionary cash awards paid to executives in recognition of exceptional performance during 2011 following the devastating EF-5 tornado that struck the Joplin, Missouri area in May 2011."
The filing indicated that all other bonuses were canceled due to the tornado.
