C. J. Huff tells disaster recovery summit audience how Bright Futures saved Joplin

Former Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff never says the words "Bright Futures," but he still manages to let those attending the recent Disaster Recovery Summit at Missouri Southern State University how his bralnchild saved Joplin after the tornado.

Huff speaks in length about how the groundwork had already been laid for the recovery by the relationships that had been built between the school district, the business community, and the faith-based community.

In the accompanying video. Huff also talks about how the tornado helped him achieve the strategic plans for the district, including construction of a new Joplin High School.

"We couldn't have built this high school," he said.

I wish I was just one thousandth as great as he thinks he is. For that matter, I wish he was too.

"Well he would, wouldn’t he?"

BF was used for Huffs political agenda,i.e. use BF to actively get voters to pass the bond issue, give cover for any random ideas he wanted to foist on the teachers and build his surreal ego....good riddance but what his tenure did to Joplin is yet to be fully played out ...EXPENSIVE WASTEFUL

I wish he would go away. What a fraud and mooch on this area.

He is gone...but Randy can't stop talking about him. Bromance possibly?

To Anonymous 11:11: Perhaps it is the fact that C. J. Huff has cost the taxpayers millions and we are about to find out the cost is much more than anyone has admitted. Huff also ran off hundreds of good teachers while he was building his own name brand. Or could it be because he is involved as a consultant with Bright Futures USA, which has been in the news recently? Or could it be because he is traveling the nation telling a story, which doesn't agree with the facts, about how he was the savior of Joplin following the tornado. Of course, you wouldn't consider any of this since your soul purpose seems to be to serve as a troll and amuse yourself with a one-liner that only a few people think is funny. People who disagree with me are always welcome but I have a hard time tolerating fools.

since your soul purpose

Nice one!

Lol...yes. it's sole purpose, not soul. Sorry Turner, gotta agree with 11:11. You show your true colors when you begin name calling like that. A man takes that route in the absence of anything intelligent to say.

Considering the critical comments that Turner allows other people to make about him all of the time, it looks to me like he was restrained in his comments. Labeling someone as a "fool" does not seem to lack intelligence. Turner hit the nail right on the head. CJ Huff continues to be a blight on Joplin, while Turner continues to provide a valuable service. I am with Turner on this one. He has two fools trying to goad him into a war of words. 7:00 p.m. says Turner has nothing intelligent to say. On the contrary, Turner's writing is a breath of fresh air compared to the Joplin Globe and provides the only intelligent reporting for this area.

I thought "soul purpose" was pretty clever.

Randy, how come you don't run a lot of stories about Mark Rohr, or Mike Woolston, or Wallace Bajjali? They also ruined the city after the tornado but I haven't seen anything recently about them. I'm sure Mark, or David Wallace are out making speeches about the tornado. No coverage on that?

I have seen no evidence that either Mark Rohr or David Wallace is going around making speeches about the tornado. If I discover that is happening, I will report on it. If Woolston or Rohr had been at the summit, I would have reported on it. I wrote a book detailing the actions taken by Rohr, Woolston, Wallace, and Huff after the tornado. That book and the Turner Report have been the only outlets where people have been able to read about the damage that elected or appointed officials did to Joplin. I should also note that I was writing about the problems with Wallace Bajjali BEFORE the city of Joplin hired the firm to be its master developer and continue to do so as new developments arise. My book and the Turner Report were also the only media sources that detailed the allegations against Mike Woolston and there was far more coverage of the problems with Mark Rohr in my book and the Turner Report than you could find in the Globe or anywhere else. C. J. Huff is still living in Joplin and living off Joplin and his actions have left the school district in a far more precarious position than the City of Joplin is in and unfortunately, we are likely to find out in the near future that the situation is even worse than we had thought.

The damage they caused was minimal in the long run. Plus, they didn't fire Randy, so he has no reason to incessantly hound them.
