R-8 Board to consider five firms to conduct superintendent search

Five executive search firms answered the Joplin R-8 School District's request for proposals, according to board documentation for a special session scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Education Center.

Interim Superintendent Norm Ridder is recommending that the board, after reviewing and discussing the proposals, decide on firms to interview at the board's regular meeting Tuesday, June 28.

Firms that submitted bids were;

McPherson and Jacobsen LLC, Omaha, Nebraska

ExecConnect, Rochester, Minnesota

Missouri School Boards Association, Columbia, Missouri

BWP & Associates, Libertyville, Illinois

Ray & Associates, Cedar Rapids, Iowa

The cost for the search firm, not to exceed $50,000, will be taken from the district's reserves, according to a fiscal note attached to the recommendation.

Why do they need a firm to find a new superintendent?
And we don't need any more garbage from the Missouri School Boards Association.

227pm.yes we don't need the old boy msba...we do need professional help.Saving dollars upfront gave us Huff and his millions of wasted dollars.Just hope the School Board is smart enough to get an experienced national search firm..R8 needs an academic leader with experience in a sizable district...we don't need a popularity contest.
