Bank employee who embezzled $94,000, gambled, had hair done, planned to flee to Mexico, indicted, pleads guilty

Candice M. King, 48, pleaded guilty today in U. S. District Court in Springfield to embezzling $94,176 from the Cornerstone Bank of Lanagan.

The plea came on the same day King's federal grand jury indictment was unsealed.

According to the plea agreement, King stole the money from the bank's vault and automatic teller machine September 8 and planned to go to Mexico.

Over the next several days, the defendant spent and misapplied a large portion of such money on prepaid credit cards, personal expenditures including food and gas, and gambling.
The defendant also spent money at a hair salon in Shreveport, Louisiana, in order to change her looks.
A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. King is free on bond while awaiting sentencing.

That makes all kinds of sense. Let her out on bond when she was previously planning to skip the country. There are some very intelligent people in charge of the judicial system.
