Meth trafficking charges were filed against William Shane Divine, 42, Anderson, today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
The events leading to Divine's arrest were included in the probable cause affidavit.
An Anderson Police Department officer spotted a woman known to have outstanding warrants leaving the Econo Lodge at 491 East State Highway 76 Wednesday. The woman tried to flee, but ran into an police car and took off on foot.
Officers saw her throw away an item that turned out to be a plastic bag containing a half-ounce of methamphetamine.
An examination of surveillance video at Econo Lodge showed the woman leaving Room 224. After obtaining consent from Econo Lodge to search, officers found eight individually wrapped plastic bags filled with meth.
Surveillance video showed Divine entering the room with a backpack that had been searched and contained methamphetamine.
Preliminary hearing detention hearing for Divine will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the federal court in Springfield.
