Jasper County Sheriff's Office arrests suspect who caused Granby area manhunt

The suspect who was sought in a manhunt in the Granby area September 3 following a home invasion in Fairview was arrested by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office and is in custody, according to a Newton County Sheriff's Office news release.

Jason Duncan was arrested overnight and is currently in custody in Jasper County.

Duncan is facing charges of Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action.

Great job to Jasper County Sheriff's Office for capturing Duncan.

A probable cause statement filed September 5 in Newton County Circuit Court alleges Duncan, 32, was caught redhanded in the act of leaving a Fairview man's property after stealing $270 worth of items.

Duncan got out of his car and shot at the property owner following a vehicle pursuit and a crash, according to the statement.

The Newton County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed five felony charges against Duncan- robbery, assault, burglary and two counts of armed criminal action.

At the time of the incident, Duncan was already facing charges of stealing and assault in Neosho Municipal Court.
