Today, Governor Mike Parson announced Ken Zellers as Director of the Department of Revenue. Zellers joined the Department in September 2017 as Chief Operating Officer and had also been serving as Acting Director since March 2019.
"Ken brings many years of valuable leadership experience to the Department of Revenue and has more than proved himself as Acting Director," Governor Parson said. "I have full confidence that the Department will continue to improve and provide great service to the people of Missouri under his leadership as Director."
As COO, Zellers was responsible for all operational aspects of the Department, including the Tax, Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing, and Administration divisions. He also oversaw the transformation of the Department in terms of organizational design, infrastructure, performance assessment, and culture.
“I want to thank Governor Parson for the incredible honor and privilege of leading the Department of Revenue and serving the people of Missouri in this capacity,” Director Zellers said.
“The Department has made tremendous strides in the areas of customer service and process improvement. I look forward to working alongside the DOR team, my Cabinet colleagues, and the Legislature as we continue to make Missouri the best state to live, work, raise a family, and conduct business.”
Before joining the Department, Zellers held numerous senior roles at Anheuser-Busch InBev, most recently serving as Global Quality Director. Anheuser-Busch InBev is a global consumer products company that employs over 200,000 people worldwide and generates $60 billion in annual sales.
In this role, Zellers was responsible for improving the overall customer/consumer experience by collecting and analyzing relevant global call center data. Zellers also served on the North American Wholesaler Advisory Board, representing Anheuser-Busch InBev and over 750 U.S. distribution centers and product wholesalers.
In prior roles with Anheuser-Busch InBev, Zellers served as Senior Director of Human Resource Operations, a member of the Human Resource Operating Committee, and Global Director of Compensation.
Zellers was born and raised in Missouri. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis.
The Department of Revenue consists of four divisions and the Director’s Office. It was created in 1945 by the Missouri Constitution to serve as the central collection agency for all state revenue. The primary duties of the Department are to collect taxes, title and register motor vehicles, and license drivers.
