Twenty-one new COVID-19 cases were confirmed by the Newton County Health Department over a 24-hour period, according to statistics posted on the department's Facebook page.
The county has recorded 1,496 coronavirus cases to date.
The number of people who are hospitalized increased from six to eight, while the number in isolation dropped from 273 to 272.
The county has had 22 deaths due to COVID-19.
The statistics do not include the portion of Newton County that is located in the city of Joplin.
