Carthage Chamber blocks me on Facebook; they won't take shirt from anyone

Every time I try to do a good deed, I pay the price.

Last week, while checking the Carthage Chamber of Commerce Facebook page to see if there were any news items I could put on the Inside Joplin blog, I spotted a post about the arrival of Maple Leaf shirts. Only these weren't your typical Maple Leaf shirts.

There was no R in shirt.

We all make mistakes and as those of you who have followed me on the Turner Report or on my Facebook page know, I have certainly made my share (maybe more than my share).

So in the spirit of kindness, I thought I should tell someone at the Chamber before some mean-spirited person saw it and had fun at the Chamber's expense.

Then it occurred to me- What if it wasn't a mistake?

Perhaps Chamber officials really wanted people to stop by their office and pick up their official 2023 Maple Leaf Festival parade sh*t.

They might think that kind of language might appeal to young people or to older people who just don't give a shirt.

Realizing that was unlikely, I sent a brief, polite message telling the Chamber it might want to check its post and offering an explanation for that suggestion.

After that, my Dr. Jekyll left the building and Mr. Hyde stopped in for a visit.

I posted a screenshot of the Chamber post on Facebook, the same one that accompanies this post.

And the Chamber, forsaking an opportunity to have some fun at its own expense and turn an embarrassing post into a public relations win, decided instead to block me.

It's not a crime to block me on Facebook.

I am sure the Chamber does not need Inside Joplin or the Turner Report to post its news.

The Chamber doesn't need Randy Turner.

What the Chamber needs is a sense of humor.

Just like those government agencies that helpfully post their pubic notices.

Just like when you blocked me for posting a meme. An insanely funny one, at that.

Like the guy you see with toilet paper hanging out the back side of his pants.

You want to think twice, he could get mad if you tell him!

So you leave him as he was, with his tail of fail.
