Public Service Commission improves increase in Liberty Utilities' fuel adjustment charge

(From Public Service Commission)

The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved a filing made by The Empire District Electric Company d/b/a Liberty (Liberty) to adjust the fuel adjustment clause (FAC) charge on the bills of its electric customers.

Liberty made two filings with the Commission. In its first filing (Case No. ER-2024-0274), Liberty sought to adjust the FAC charge to reflect the actual energy costs incurred by the Company during the six-month period September 2023 through February 2024. The second filing was Liberty’s FAC true-up (Case No. EO-2024-0276).

For a residential customer using 1,000 kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity a month, the FAC will increase by approximately $0.84 a month. The change will take effect June 1, 2024.

The FAC requires regular adjustments to reflect changes in prices the company has incurred for fuel and for wholesale power purchased to serve customers.

Liberty serves approximately 161,500 electric customers in the Missouri counties of Barry, Barton, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, Stone and Taney.

But what about the wind turbines?
We (taxpayers) purchased those and paid for land lease, installation etc. Even better we let a foreign owned utility screw us over.
Screw you Liberty I hope all your turbines fall down, Thanks for making the skyline blink red.
All you fools that signed up for this BS screw you too. You were gullible enough and greedy enough to sign up for it.

The Utility Companies are Monopolies - You don't have a choice where you get your Energy, Electric, Gas, Water, Sewer Services, or even sometimes your Trash Services.

Since they are Monopolies, there is no competition for pricing or services, you are stuck with what is mandated and available.

It's funny how quickly people forget just how awful Empire was.
