Joplin man pleads guilty to weapons charges, fentanyl possession charge dropped


During a hearing this morning in U. S. District Court in Springfield, Landon D. Laurance, 21, Joplin, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and possession or transfer of a machine gun.

Judge David P. Rush offered a pre-sentence investigation. No date is set for sentencing.

Laurance was initially arrested by the FBI and Joplin Police Department and was in possession of fentanyl. He told investigating officers that he was addicted to fentanyl.

As part of a plea agreement, the fentanyl possession charge was dropped.
