AP: More charges will be filed against cult defendants

Marcus Kabel of Associated Press reports more charges will be filed against five leaders of religious cults in McDonald and Newton counties who were allegedly having sex with children as part of church rituals.

Investigators, noting more accusers have come forward, have said they expect the case to widened. Investigators expect the five defendants to face more charges, and they believe more people will be charged.

If that is the case, it certainly casts a considerable shadow on a number of decisions by McDonald County Circuit Court Judge John LePage, including the decision to set bond so low, not to require the Lamberts and Eplings to stay in the state, and not to require them to steer clear of children.

It should also cause concern over the eight children who reportedly still live in the 100-acre compound at Cecil Epling Way.
