Precious Moments advisor latest Blunt contributor to receive plum appointment

Sharon Garrett, Purdy, a member of the advisory board of Precious Moments, is the latest appointment by Governor Matt Blunt to come under fire for receiving a plum position after donating thousands to Blunt and to Missouri Republicans. Mrs. Garrett was appointed to the Tourism Commission.
Critics say the governor replaced experienced hands with big contributors on the Gaming Commission and is now doing the same thing with the Tourism Commission.
Now you might say that Ms. Garrett's experience with Precious Moments, a major tourism attraction in Carthage, might make her the perfect person for the Commission, but as a Kansas City star article points out, the advisory board on which she serves does not deal with the tourism aspects of the business, but concentrates on the collectible figurines.
