Hartzler: Ike, stop lying!

In a news release issud today, Republican Fourth District Congressional challenger Vicky Hartzler calls on incumbent Ike Skelton to stop lying about her record:

Fed up with being the target of blatant lies and distortions, 4th Congressional District Republican candidate Vicky Hartzler is calling out 17 term incumbent Democrat Congressman Ike Skelton, demanding that in the final three weeks of the election campaign he tell the truth

"Ike Skelton is not a political novice," said Hartzler. "He knows that when I voted against a military-related bill during my time in the State Legislature, it was because I could not approve siphoning money away from veterans' homes for other purposes. He knows my votes were pro-military, yet he allows lies to be told in his TV ads. While I have disagreed with Mr. Skelton on policy issues, I thought of him as an honorable man. It is disappointing that he would stoop to such tactics to hold onto his power. It's just one more indication that it's time for him to go."

Skelton, through his ads, has not only lied about Hartzler's commitment to the military, but also about her commitment to Second Amendment rights. Her 1999 vote against sending a right-to-carry initiative to a vote of the people was a principled stand based on her belief that our Second Amendment rights are enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and should not be put to a popular vote. As an outspoken advocate for right-to-carry, she believed the legislature should just give the people the rights already granted to them in the U.S. Constitution.

"You worked with the Second Amendment rights groups closely in the state of Missouri during the Proposition B debacle, when the Missouri Second Amendment groups did not believe God given rights should be put to a popular vote," wrote Western Missouri Shooters Alliance President Sheila Stokes-Begley in a letter endorsing Hartzler's candidacy. "We knew the risk of vote fraud and that lies would be spread about this issue and that is just what happened."

Now new lies are being spread by Mr. Skelton, who has long been respected in Missouri politics. Veterans, their organizations, and even some members of the media are openly stating Ike Skelton's accusations and allegations are lies - pure and simple. He lies about Hartzler's record because he cannot tell the truth about his own record which is highlighted by votes for cap and trade, reckless spending, and support for Nancy Pelosi's agenda 95 percent of the time.

Vicky Hartzler stands ready to defend her record in a public forum with Mr. Skelton. Yet he fears appearing side by side with her to allow citizens to question him on his actions. It's time the media played its role as government watchdog and called Mr. Skelton out of hiding.

"Congressman Skelton, regain your honor by telling the truth about me," said Hartzler. "The truth should never be a casualty of an individual's desire to hold onto a job at all costs."

Listen you dumb bitch. When your resume begins to even begin to be close to what Ike Skelton has accomplished, get back to us.

Biography
U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton (D-MO) has represented Missouri's Fourth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1977. His district includes Missouri's state capital, Jefferson City, and much of the Ozark region of the state. The northernmost part of the Fourth District includes Ray County, located north of the Missouri River. The southernmost point of the district is Webster County, only 30 miles from the Arkansas border.

Skelton, a native of Lexington, is a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy and the University of Missouri at Columbia where he received A.B. and L.L.B. degrees. He was named as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and the Law Review. Prior to his election to Congress, Skelton served as Lafayette County Prosecuting Attorney and as a Missouri State Senator.

A leader in the House on defense issues, Skelton is the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Skelton's district is home to Fort Leonard Wood, Whiteman Air Force Base, and the Missouri National Guard Training Center. Skelton was instrumental in bringing the Army Engineer School to Fort Leonard Wood and the B-2 Stealth bomber to Whiteman.

As most of the Fourth Congressional District is comprised of small towns and farming communities, Skelton looks after the needs of rural America. He is a former chairman of the Small Business Subcommittee on Procurement, Tourism and Rural Development and the Congressional Rural Caucus.

Skelton is an Eagle Scout, a member of Sigma Chi social fraternity, a Lions Club member, and vice chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. Skelton is an elder of the First Christian Church in Lexington. He and his late wife Susie have three sons. Skelton remarried Patricia Martin in 2009.

That biography is comprehensive. My concern is that he has become such a part of "the system," that he has forgotten those of us in "rural America." As I have stated before, I wrote to Mr. Skelton twice and I received two form letters two years apart that were exactly the same and received NO phone call or return letter when I mailed copies of his form letters to him. Either Mr. Skelton has incompetent aides who work for him or, worse yet, my concerns from "rural America" did not fit in with what he considered important. He may be a very nice man and very involved in his community but I will not vote for him again.

We are talking values. What type of values does Hartzler really have when she will refer to a public servant with years and years of dedicated public service as she just did? Calling Ike Skelton a liar is about as low as you can go and shows her true colors.

I'll tell you what she is. A very shallow person who will sacrifice another person's dignity and reputation just because she thinks she is special. I damn sure don't want her limited intelligence making decisions about the security of our nation.

Vickie Hartzler is just exactly like the people we have in Washington who look out for their own personal gain.

Look at Ike's biography and look at hers. She is not a loser but she has no room to trash Ike.

She may want to be a momma grizzly but she will never measure up. Momma grizzlies are not dumb.

I don't know who the previous posters are but my name is Lee.

Don't know about a battleship but Ike pulled a B-2 Stealth Bomber out of his ass and located it at Whiteman.

I've dealt with the Hartzlers on farm equipment. The question about fact or fiction on the dumb bitch is yet to be resolved.

Thanks Ike.

Ike Skelton voted to close the 131st Fighter Wing St. Louis Missouri A Missouri ANG Unit The 131st Fighter Wing was an F-15 Fighter Unit Located In Bridgeton, MO. The 9/11 Commission found that the lack of alert sites reduced ...the capability of the military to respond effectively to the 9/11 attacks. 131st was an alert site.
He also voted for Cap and Trade that will drive rural Missouri back to the stone ages and make fuel cost more. C&T also has a provision that will make corn, pellet and wood stoves illegal. He also voted for the slaughter rule that passed Obummer care without an actual vote. The Tricare amendment to healthcare is a joke. He actually voted to keep a lower quality healthcare plan for the veterans. Ike Skelton is either a big liar or dumb as a box of rocks and I don't think he's dumb.

If Ike doesn't lie why did he say the VFW endorsed him when in fact they did not. He is a liar. He got an endorsement from a political action committee that calls its self vfw pac. Not the same at all...

Spin and PR wizards aside, Ike voted for Nancy Pelosi, was friendly enough with her for Pelosi to appoint him as chairman of a committee, and voted with her nearly all of the time.

A vote for Ike is a vote for Pelosi.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Did not the Secretary of Defence recommend the closing of the 131st?

Seems like the response capability to protect this nation was not compromised in the report to
Congress.

How did the Missouri delegation vote? You need to make full disclosure.
