Joplin Blasters ownership files counterclaim against Sodexo

The Joplin Blasters ownership. Pro Baseball, denies claims made by Sodexo, the company that ran concessions at Joe Becker Stadium in 2015 and filed a counterclaim, saying that Sodexo failed to pay commissions on the concessions that were sold.

In documents filed today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the Blasters ownership claimed Sodexo was guilty of breach of contract and asked for unspecified damages.

Sodexo filed its breach of contract lawsuit against the Blasters May 2, asking that the baseball team be required to pay $187,124.25 in damages, plus attorney fees and costs.

According to the petition, the Blasters sent a letter to Sodexo January 25, saying the baseball team had failed to meet its revenue projections during its first year and "had to make deep cuts in its operating budget, including cuts in the concession management services."

On February 19, Sodexo responded, demanding payment of the unamortized amount of the $200,000 the company had put into the Blasters, as well as return of signage and remaining inventory.
